Sew a skirt with a lovely swish and one that is bang on trend too. The gathered tiers are simple to sew and the elasticated waist makes it comfortable to wear.
Ideal for holidays or everyday wear and it can be dressed up or down. Sew it in a pretty floral for a summery vibe, or a plain colour for versatility. Viscose will give it a lovely swish, whereas cotton or babycord will be slightly more structured. There are so many options!
This is a skirt pattern designed by Leanne that has been well tried and tested and become a staple in her wardrobe.
The skirt has an elasticated waist, optional drawstring cord, and two tiers. The lower tier is gathered onto the upper tier.
The finished skirt length is 95cm and can easily be adjusted.
In the photographs the red skirt is made from our Willow babycord fabric and the black skirt is made from a viscose fabric.
You will learn how to:
Cut out the pattern pieces;
Add a gathered tier;
Sew a waistband channel and add elastic;
Make a drawstring cord (optional);
Add buttonholes for drawstring cord (optional); and
Sew a simple hem.
